Saturday Golf

Cold conditions and little run on the fairways failed to stop Allan Free (20) from posting a terrific winning score of 40 points last Saturday. Chris Waterson (8) was the only other player to break handicap, finishing with 38 points ahead of third place finisher, Gary Thorne (7) with 35 points. Chris Manners (8) completed the ball pool with 35 points.

In the Ladies event, Shirley Jenner (22) recorded 30 points to win on count-back over Michelle Dillon (9).

Nearest to the pins: Geoff Williams (3rd), Paul Goodson (5th), Paul Goodson (9th), Gary Thorne - Superpin (13th), Chris Waterson (16th). The best round of the day was a nine over par 80 by Chris Manners. Jarrad Walker won the pen.

This Saturday’s event is the Monthly Medal.

Thursday Golf

Jarrad Walker (12) made it two weeks in a row, winning July 25 stableford event with a score of 41 points ahead of Gary Thorne (7) who recorded 38 points.

Walker played very consistent golf over both nines, as opposed to last week’s win where he scored heavily on the front nine after a poor front nine. This week, he completed the back nine in 38 strokes and followed it up with another impressive 38 strokes on the front nine. Thorne recorded a double bogy on the par 4 tenth hole but managed to hold it together for 39 strokes before completing the front nine in 37 strokes.

In third place was Ken Williams (22) with 36 points.

The best round of the day was five over par 76 by Jarrad Walker and Gary Thorne. 

Nearest to the pins: N/C (3rd), N/C (5th), Simon Shanks (9th), Graham Wyte (13th), Frank Ritchie (16th). Doug Ellwood won the pen.

Ladies Report

Eight players including a visitor from Queensland, were greeted to beautiful sunshine on Wednesday with Michelle Dillon winning the stableford event on count-back over Shirley Forbes. Both players finished with 32 points. Dillon also won the Chino’s coffee voucher and Carol Dear scored the pen this week. Next week is the Monthly Medal event. Assemble 9.30am for 10.00 hit off.
