What started out as a very foggy day for our oldies, turned out to be very nice in the afternoon and
the old man himself, Tony Laughlin (9) played himself in to form to win with 36 pts. He didn’t start off to well by being 6 over after 8 holes but he straightened himself up on the back nine with 6 pars to win the day from Greg Gin (15) and Rob Fabry (19) both on 35. In the ball pool were Greg Gin, Rob Fabry, Geoff Williams (17) 34, Andrew Spitty (+2) on 33 and Casey Gillen (20) on 32 got the last ball from Gary Thorne (3), Red Manners (6) and Graham Wyte (11) all on 32 on a countback.
Nearest the Pins were Matt Heaviside on the 3rd, no one landed on the 5th, Andrew Spitty on the 9th and Geoff Williams on the 1 th and the 16th .
Andrew Spitty had the best stroke score of the day with 72 and Frank Ritchie was welcomed back with everyone letting him win the pen.
Saturday Golf 13th June 2020
A fair but windy day greeted the brave ones that turned up to play and the one that took everything in his stride was Donny Ross (8) who put all the practice he’s been doing lately into play and won the day with a great score of 40 pts, to win the Greenwood Mugge, which I’m sure he would enjoy if we were all allowed to have a drink in the clubhouse.
Don had 3 bogies and one birdie on both nines for a very consistent round of golf and he also had the best stroke score of 75 off the stick.
The Ladies winner of the Goblet, who I am sure like Don, would like to use it extensively was Michelle Dillon (8) on 39 pts unfortunately Covid19 is still affecting us in one way or another.
In the ball pool we had Peter Hall (12) 37, Ladies R/up Shirley Jenner (26) and Greg Gin (15) both on 36, Jim Apostolelis (23) 35, Jenny Waterson (21) again defeating her husband, 34, Gary Thorne (4), Scott Worner (25), Red Manners (6) and Deaniee Henderson (20) all on 33 pts got the last of the balls from Joe Tartaglia (15) and Gray Hayes (16) on count back.
Nearest the Pins were on the 3rd Joe Tartaglia, 5th Chris Waterson, 9th Greg Gin, 11th Superpin was Jen Waterson and the long 16th was won by Michelle Dillon, who got very excited watching her ball head toward the hole, only to finish right beside the hole. Well done Dilly on that shot and our pen winner was Bryan Livingston who proudly boasted after his round that he had the winning score to get the pen.
Sunday Golf 14th June 2020
Another day similar to Saturday but maybe one degree hotter saw a small field head out and one of
our newest members Michael Runciman (14) made the best of it to win with 34 pts. Runner up was
Joe Tartaglia (16) on 33 pts. Ned Pay got the nearest the pin on the 3rd , Michelle Dillon on the 9th and Jan Harry won the 13th and no one landed on the 5th or the 16th.
Hopefully next week we will be able to start having presentations in the clubhouse so everyone can congregate in the clubhouse after their round and brag about how well they played. Thanks golfers and I hope to see you all on the course tomorrow, just remember to bring your umbrellas, cause you may need them!
Ladies Golf – Wednesday June 17th - Par
The weather gods were looking down on the Wednesday golfing goddesses again this week. The golf may not have been beautiful, but the sunshine certainly was. We welcomed Cathy Brodie and Cassie Rattray to our club this week and look forward to playing lots of golf with them in the future!
The underrated Rosie Laughlin made the most of the conditions to come in with -3 to win the day. Marlene Orr was runner up with -3, and Geraldine Kennedy, Michelle Baker and Colleen Free collected a prize from the ball pool.
Nearest the pins went to Michelle Dillon on the 13th and the hotly contested Chino’s on the 9th went to Marlene Orr. Rhonda Willoughby collected a lovely new pen.
See you all next Wednesday – 9.30 for 10am.
