Thursday Golf

Our R & R Day had a nice field of golfers go out and enjoy a coolish but good day on the golf course and they were joined by a visitor from Edenhope Barry Cakebread. The smallest of all our R & R’s Joey Tartaglia (16) won the day on countback from Andrew Spitty (+1) both on 39 pts. Andrew equalled his course record, 67, again and would have won but unfortunately when you play off +1 you have to give a point away so Joey wins the day. I must say congrats to Andrew for equalling the course record again, for I think the third time.  He went round the front nine four under but couldn’t quite keep up the intensity and only managed par around the back but still a great effort, the ball pool was made up of Andrew Spitty, Gary Thorne (4) 38, the ever consistent Rob Fabry (19) 34 and Simon Shanks (18) also with 34.

Nearest the pins were on the 3rd Barry Cakebread, 5th and 16th Andrew Spitty, 9th Simon Shanks and the 13th was Gary Thorne.

As mentioned Andrew Spitty had the best stroke score and, he must enjoy them or he keeps losing them, Wayne Cook again won the pen.

Saturday Golf

The coolish weather is starting to take effect and the numbers were down a little on Saturday but

that did not hamper Col Wilkie (15), in anyway, as he streeted the field to win the June Monthly Medal with a 66 net. The man that says he can’t play to his handicap of 4 lost a shot today, after his second R/up trophy in a row was Gary Thorne (4) on nett 69.

Winner of the Ladies was Jean Youl (29) who had her best round for a while with a 69 Nett and R/up was Carol Dear (24) 71 nett. In the ball pool we had Gary Thorne, Andrew Spitty (+1) still in good Form, 70, Carol Dear, Graham Wyte (12) 71, Barry Cakebread (17) and Jill Marshall (36) both on 72 and Chris Waterson (5), who missed out last week because his wife beat him turned the tables and this week has beaten her, got the last ball with 73 nett, I hope things were civil in their household that night.

Nearest the pins, on the 3rd was Joe Tartaglia, 5th Gav Teasdale, 9th and Superpin 13th was Andrew Spitty and the 16th went to Chris Waterson.

Andrew Spitty had the best stroke score with 69 off the stick and Chrissy Downs has gone from chocolates last week to boiled lollies this week to win the pen. Highlight of the day was Andrew Spitty, with an eagle on the 6th which went nicely with his 4 birdies.

Monday Golf

We had our first tournament since Covid19 disrupted everything, on Sunday with a 4Ball sponsored

by Choice Cut Butchers. Winners for the day were visitors from Lalbert, Scott and Jess Worner, with a very handy 49 pts. Runners up for the day were Jean Youl & Carol Dear on 46 pts and in the ball pool was Chrissy Downs and Michelle Dillon with 44 pts.

Nearest the pins were on the 3rd Michelle Dillon, 5th Peter Hall, 9th Chrissy Downs, 13th Chris Gray and no one managed to get on the 16th .

Next Saturday is the Greenwood Mugge and for the Ladies the Goblet, so hopefully restrictions will be eased some more, so that the winners can use it to its full effect hoping to see you all there Saturday.

Wednesday Ladies Golf

Ladies golf started this morning with bone rattling shivers but ended with 14 very warm ladies. Michelle Baker disrobed as much as she could and still put up her shade umbrella – unusual on a 0 degree morning!!

Meryl Cameron was in fine form to win the Stableford event with 38 points. Runner up on 35 points was  Michelle Baker, who proved that she was indeed running hot!

Jan Harry, Shirley Jenner and Carol Dear all came in with 32 points, which was enough to snaffle a ball from the pool.

Jill Marshall had the shot of the day with a creative drive on the 6th, which lodged firmly behind the bark of a tree. She was awarded the Pen for this innovative shot… and several more.

Nearest the Pins today were awarded to Meryl Cameron on the 9th (thanks to Chino’s) who completed the hole with a birdie, and Michelle Dillon who was closest on the 13th.

We welcomed Ange Morton to the Club. She has her handicap now and has been playing some amazing golf.

See you all next Wednesday 9.30 for 10am Sharp.
