/Saturday Golf
Gary Thorne (6) won the Greenwood Mugge on Saturday with a score of 40 points. In the Ladies Event, Jan Harry (15) won the Silver Goblet with 39 points.
Thorne who started on the back nine was even par at the turn, recording two birdies and two bogies, but started the front nine poorly, recording a three over par after the first three holes. A steading birdie on the fourth hole, followed by birdies on the final two holes sealed the win for Thorne on count-back over Shane Dibsdale (13).
Dibsdale also found trouble over the first three holes but turned the front nine in only four over par. Two birdies in the first three holes on the back nine saw Dibsdale surge back into contention, only to fall away with two bogies and then a double bogy on the final hole. Martin Hughes (21) completed the minor placings with 39 points.
In the Ladies, Harry showed the form that saw her win at Barham, with steady tee-to-green play, finishing strongly, for an easy win over Rosie Laughlin (38) who recorded 33 points and Michelle Dillon (9) who returned 31 points.
Ross Nesbit and Peter Jones completed the ball pool.
