Thursday golf

Poddy Free belied the way he has been playing golf lately and came in with a mighty fine round of 42 pts to win old folks day on Thursday. Playing consistent golf Poddy had 8 pars and 10 bogies for a very good round of golf completely obliterating much younger golfers such as Forrest and Ned who could only manage 30 & 27 points each. Our other most experienced golfers filled in the ball pool in A.J.L, Fred O’Bryan and old John Murphy. Furthest from the tee were on the 3rd Fred O’Bryan, 9th Greg McNeil, 13th Mal McKenzie and no one could manage to get anywhere near the 5th and 16th.

Saturday golf

In a very exciting day for the club one of our youngest members had a win completely streeting the field. Jim Apostolelis, playing in his first official round of golf, had a score of 47 points! Because of that score he has lost 11 strokes off his handicap. No doubt thanks to all the practising, that he has been doing since he joined the club, he is often seen most days at the club working on his game and fine tuning his skills.

In the ball pool we had Ross Nesbit And Graham Wyte on 37 points, Logan Keighran, another young golfer, on 36, Geoff Williams and Poddy on 35, Deaniee Henderson and the old master and current captain Scott Harry on 34, filled the pool. The lowest stroke score for the day was Andrew Spitty’s 74.

The NTP’s were 3rd T Laughlin, 5th N/A, 9th D Bacon,

13th G Wyte & 16th R Nesbit.

Ladies Results 2nd Round of Singles Championship.

The number of least putts was Olive Spitty with 28. Winner of the Chino’s voucher on the 9th, was Olive Spitty, on the 3rd, sponsored by June Cullen was Olive Spitty and finally the pen went to Chrissy Downs.

The leader in A grade is Michelle Dillon 163 from Olive Spitty 165. In B Grade Joyce Body 186 leads from Marg Learmonth 192 & C Grade Deaniee Henderson 199 leads from Ronda Boulton 210.

Next weeks last round will see youth versus experience in A grade and in B Grade it’s who can withstand the pressure? C grade looks like an 11 stroke advantage could be just a bit too much to claw back, but golf is a pressure game and anything can happen. Good golfing, to all the players.

Hit off is set for 10am next week.

Presentaion night & farewell to June is on 2nd October at Sporties, 6pm for 6.30pm.
