19th March results

Thursday Golf

Numbers were down for our R & R golfers on the day, maybe the Coronavirus is starting to scare a few away, but everyone still enjoyed the day. Our winner on the day was Col Wilkie (15) who had 36 pts to win by one over Chris Waterson (5) and Doug Ellwood (19) both on 35 and poor Tony Laughlin missed out on the ball pool a countback. Nearest the pins were few and far between but on the 9 th Graham Wyte got on and Chris Waterson again out drove the oldies to get on the 16 th but the other three holes had no winners. Chris Waterson had the best stroke score for the day with 77 off the stick and Kevin Sambrooks won the very sort after pen award.

Saturday Golf

Again numbers were down because all golfers were either resting up for the Par 3 day the next day or maybe the gale force winds kept them away, who knows, but we did have two notable happenings today when Chris Waterson and Andrew Spitty both eagled the par 4, 7th hole so congratulations to you both. Our winner for the day was Andrew Spitty (+1) with 35 pts to win by two points from Mr Consistent, Chris Waterson (5) on 33. Ladies winner was our Mrs Consistent Michelle Dillon (8) with 31 pts from Joyce Boyd (22) on 28 pts. In the ball pool we had Geoff Williams (16) 32, Paul Goodson(11) 31 and Mark Henderson (32) on 29, the scores were reflective of the wind that our golfers had to play in. Nearest the pins were on the 3 rd Col Wilkie, 5 th Scott Harry, 9 th Mabel Spitty, Superpin 13 th was Andrew Spitty and to keep it all in the family Olive Spitty got the kudo’s on the 16 th hole. Best stroke score went to Andrew Spitty who parred the course in those windy conditions so it was a magnificent round of golf and our regular visitor from Benalla Jo Martin won the pen much to her delight.

Sunday Par 3

Weather for our Par 3 day was again magnificent and we had 100 golfers all vying for the prizes on every hole and the $25000 towards a new car from Swan Hill & Kerang Toyota on the 13 th hole. For the fourth year in a row Sebastian Parseghian has been the main sponsor of this event offering up the cash. Unfortunately no one managed to win the money although Irene Whelan from Barham was said to have scraped the pin with her shot on the 13 th . The winners for the day were siblings Rex Suckling with 55 and Jane Wall, both from Barham, with 59 winning from Andrew Spitty and Bev

Hocking. In the Handicap section for the men were John Murphy nett 43 and R/up Casey Gillen nett 45 and the womens winner was Katelyn Wright nett 42 from Rosie Laughlin nett 43. In the teams event the winners were Tony and Rosie Laughlin, John Murphy and Kevin Sambrooks with the best 3 netts scores total of 142.

A great day was had by all and ended with Sebastian committing again next year to be our major sponsor. The Golf Club would like to thank all sponsors especially Sebastian and Gray’s Bakery and 3SH Radio for their generous support.
