Ladies championship 2022

Is this the start of a new family dynasty of golfers?

On Wednesday the Kerang Golf Club finalized its Ladies Championships with the Spitty name being very prominent in the winner’s circle once again.

Olive aged 13, had previously won the Singles Championship on 2 occasions and has won it again this year with scores of 71 + 80 = 151. Also, winning the Commonwealth Golf Club and Murray Downs ladies Championship this year.

Younger sister Mabel, aged 9, has continued the family’s tradition of winning Championships. Taking out the B Grade Trophy with scores of 95 + 91 = 186. This last round was her best score ever! Not bad for a pair of young girl golfers. Now if you add to that father, Andrews outstanding record of winning 8 Singles Championships, out of the last 12. that is quite a unique family situation.

The Kerang Golf Club has a great record in producing family Champions from Ian Laughlin, (26 times) sons Paul (6 times) and Anthony (once), plus Grandson Adam (once) and not to forget Granddaughter Bree (3 times). Also, there is Jan (won 3 times) and Laine Harry winning in 2008 & 2010, the Ladies and Men’s Championship. I would think that not many golf Clubs around Australia can claim a better record.

Note to Greg.

Can you put your photo of the Spitty’s in this report. Also is it possible to run this as a separate report to our weekly report?

I think what has taken place here in a small Country golf club would be very difficult to find better results of father/son/grandson/granddaughter and Mother/son combinations as Singles Champions.

I will add what pics I have for you to choose what appears and what doesn’t.
