2nd January results
/Ladies Wednesday 21 December 2022
On our final game of ladies’ golf for the year, we had some special things happen! Jill Marshall (33) has been doing a bit of practice lately and had a great score of 41 points, which resulted in her handicap reducing by 2 strokes. Runner-up was Rhonda Willoughby (26), who finished with 39 points. Olive Spitty is off scratch and finished with 36 points, with her drive on the 15th 246 metres and finished on the green to have an eagle and a birdie on the 16th. Shirley Jenner (20) also had 36 points. Olive also won Chino’s 9th NTP voucher. We had a mystery pairing with Rhonda and Olive taking home the chocolates.
Congratulations to the band of workers at our club who put in many voluntary hours, to keep it ticking along. If you can come out and help, there is always something to do. Happy New Year everyone and let’s hope 2023is a great one, happy golfing, your Captain.
Thursday Golf
R & R Thursday saw Ron Schultze (25) hit some hot form in the hot weather to win the day on 42 pts
on c/b from Joe Tartaglia (15). In the ball pool we had Joe, Graham Wyte (13) 39, Mark Henderson
(30) and Kevin Sambrooks (18) both on 38 pts. Nearest the pins were Graeme Brierley 3rd, Pat
Featonby 5th, Doug Meehan 9th and Ron Schultze 13th and no one landed on the 16th.
Saturday Golf 24 December 2022
Christmas eve golf on Saturday saw numbers down a little on our hottest golf day so far this
summer. Our winner again had to be decided on c/b and that was James Meehan (12), of Lalbert, on
38 pts from Col Wilkie (11). We only had 4 Ladies play and 3 of those ended on 35 pts each and the
winner was Chrissy Downs (28) from Jan Harry (12) and Michelle Dillon (10). The ball pool was Col
Wilkie, Ron Schultze (23) and Joe Tartaglia (14) on 36 and Jan Harry. Best on the greens were Ken
Williams 3rd, Kevin Lane 5th, Laine Harry 9th, Doug Meehan 13th and John Dee on the 16 th .
Max & Gav Day 2 Person Pinehurst 27 December 2022
Max Wilson Tyres and Batteries Day Pinehurst was well attended by over 20 pairs and overall winners were Kevin Sambrooks and Wayne Hall with 76 – 15 = 61 and the R/up was Ron Schultze and Col Wilkie 77 – 12.4 = 64.6. In the mixed section Scott and Jan Harry had a good win with 77 – 9 = 68 over Andrew and Olive Spitty 68 + 2.6 = 70.6, Ladies winners were Michelle Dillon and Shirley Jenner 84 – 11.2 = 72.8. Of the novelty events Nearest the line Ladies was Mabel Spitty and Men’s was Kevin Sambrooks, the longest Drive Ladies was Olive Spitty and for the Men Col Wilkie. Nearest the pins were 3rd Col Wilkie, 5th and 16th Jack Hewitt, 9th Graham Wyte and 13th Donna Grant.
Thursday Golf
Over 30 golfers turned up to enjoy warm weather on the golf course. Winner on c/b with 40 pts was Captain Jack Hewitt (12) from Gav Teasdale (12). The ball pool was Gav, Chris Gray (14), Mark Henderson (29) and Graham Wyte (12) all on 39, Joe Tartaglia (13) and Jan Harry (12) both on 38. On the greens it was Anthony Robertson 3rd, Jack Hewitt 5th, Doug Meehan 9th, Terry Turvey on the 13th and 16th.
Saturday Golf 31 December 2022
Our last day of golf for the year was a hot one and Col Wilkie (11) had no problems with the heat winning with 42 pts, not far behind was Wayne O’Neill (22) on 40 pts. Ladies Winner was Michelle Dillon (10) on 39 pts from Chrissy Downs (28) 38. Ball pool was Wayne O’Neill, Kevin Sambrooks (17) 40, Scott Harry (12), Roger Pay (13) and Gary Hayes (17) all on 39 pts and Chrissy Downs on 38. Nearest the pins went to Col Wilkie 3rd, Scott Harry 5th, Terry Turvey 9th and Michelle Dillon on the 13th and 16th.
