/Ladies Golf – Wednesday July 8th
Seriously. There’s cold and then there’s freezing! Nine rugged up ladies started their Wednesday round in 2.6 degree, foggy conditions. We lost one of the crowd favourites along the way when her long johns froze and her radiator iced over. The remaining eight chilly contenders waited in vain for the sun to break through but when the round was over Jane Bunn reported that it was still only 5 degrees and “felt like 2.8!”
Michelle Baker scoffed at the bone numbing breeze to run hot with 35 stableford points. Runner up was Michelle Dillon (31 points) who was also Nearest The Pin on the 9th to score a Chino’s coffee. Carol Dear was in the ball pool with 30 points. The scores tapered off after that, right down to a frosty Meryl Cameron who took home the pen.
Hopefully, the sun will shine on us next Wednesday! See you at 9.30 for 10am.
Thursday Golf July 9th
A cold and foggy day greeted our golfers for this day and with two visitors, Hayden Price from Murray Downs and the other Peter Nicholes from Ranfurlie GC, it was Donny Ross (8) who handled it better than anyone else to win the day with 36 pts so those lessons he had are still working a treat.
The Nearest the Pin winners were Red Manners on the 3rd, Andrew Spitty on the 5th and 9th, Graham Wyte on the 13th and Dave Conlan broke out his 5 wood to win the 16th.
Those in the ball pool were Red Manners (6), Andrew Spitty (+2) and Simon Shanks (18) all on 35 and Frank Cianci (22) got the last ball on a countback from Gary Thorne (4) and Tony Laughlin (10). Don’t forget those wanting to play on Thursday’s be there by 12:15 for a 12:45 hit off.
Saturday Golf July 11th
We played for the Greenwood Mugge for the men and the Goblet for the women and what a big day we had with young Olive Spitty (8) equalling the course record, set by Mary-Anne Davis from Murray Downs with a 73, but also setting the Ladies members course record with that score and she is only 11 years old, so well done to Olive Spitty and I know she is only going to get better, she came R/up in last years Club Champs so after this she will probably start favourite, I would imagine.
Men’s winner was Graham Wyte (13) who had 38 pts. In the Ladies Olive won with 42 pts and Joyce Boyd (23) R/up with 37. In the ball pool was Joyce, Andrew Spitty (+2) 36 and Gary Pay (16) the same, thanks to the lessons he got from Tony Laughlin, Ang Morton (26) 35, Blake Shay (12), Don Ross (8) and Jim Clark (16) all n 34.
Nearest the pins were Brady Gillingham on the 3rd, Blake Shay 5th, Olive Spitty 9th, Andrew Spitty got the money on the 13 th and Michelle Dillon was the best on the 16 th. Andrew Spitty had another sub-par round of 69 to again win the best stroke score of the day and obviously our Captain didn’t get any lessons this week because he won the pen with he’s paltry score.
