Thursday Golf 2nd July

A big field of golfers for our R & R day with 30 players turning up to enjoy the fine weather. It turned out to be the Spitty family day as Andrew (+1) equalled the course record again to win with 39 pts.

Andrew started very well with a birdie on the first, third and sixth to finish the front nine at three under the card. Par’s on the first 3 holes of the back nine then 2 birdies in a row had him staring at a new course record but a bogie on 17 stopped his momentum and a par on the last had him with a 67 for the day, which he has done, I think, for the fourth time!

As mentioned earlier it was the Spitty family day as Andrew won nearest the pin on the 3rd , 13th and 16th and his daughter Olive (8) got the 9th and no one managed to land it on the 5th green from the tee. In the ball pool was Col Wilkie (12) 38, Michelle Dillon (8) 37, Simon Shanks (18) 36, Jim Apostolelis (20) 35 and Tony Laughlin (10) got the last ball with 34 pts. A statement was made by someone that he was back in form but after having 21 pts I think he might have to stick to his day job of catching criminals.

Saturday Golf 4th July

On a day in which I think even the Eskimo’s would not have enjoyed it,  Phil Lloyd (9), after getting lessons from Shane at Murray Downs, put all his new found knowledge to good effect to win the monthly Medal with a nett 68. Winner of the Ladies was Ang Morton (29) one of our newest members who also had a nett 68, which would have done her Grandfather (Ian Laughlin) proud, to easily beat Carol Dear on 74 nett, and also lose 3 shots off her handicap. Those in the ball pool were Donny Ross (8) 71, Casey Wilson (13) and Andrew Spitty (+1) both on 73 nett, Rob Fabry (21) and Carol Dear (25) each having 74 nett, Olive Spitty (9) 75 and Gary Thorne (4) got the last ball on a count back from Shane Dibsdale (9) and Geoff Williams (17) all on 76 nett.

Sunday Golf 6th July

We played a 3 Person Ambrose and the best of a good bunch was Logan Keighran, Cody Touhey and Michael Runciman to win with a score of 69 – 5.8 = 63.2 from the team of Jordan Simpson, Brad Short and Nathan Orr on 75 – 10.2 = 64.8 on a count back from Terry, Dilly and Chrissy.

Nearest the pins were Logan Keighran on the 3rd , Michael Rowe on the 5th, Deaniee Henderson 9th, Chrissy Downs beat Ned Pay on the 13th and the old man Tony Laughlin got the 16th.

Lets see everyone out there this Saturday and hopefully our captain got some lessons this week so he doesn’t embarrass himself again.

Remember to fill in your divots and repair your pug marks on the greens.
