17th January Results — Kerang Golf and Bowls

Thursday Golf

R & R golf saw a good field turn up with visitors from Boort and Lakeside golf clubs and a return to the course of Tony Hall looking fit and well again, good to see you back Snowy. Showing he hasn’t lost any skill over the break he won the pen on his first attempt, well done. Winner of the day was Doug Meehan (7) 36 points from Tony Laughlin (10) and Kevin Sambrooks (17) both on 35. Also in the ball pool was Wayne O’Niell (25), Kevin Lane (17) and Ray Taylor (27) all on 32pts. Nearest the pins were Doug Meehan on the 5th, Ron Schultze 9th, Greg McNeil 13th and no one landed on the 3rd or the 16th.

Saturday Golf

Almost 50 golfers turned up for our stableford and Lone Ranger day on a sunny but windy Saturday. Winners of the Lone Ranger event was the team of Michelle Dillon, Jan Harry, Meryl Cameron and Shirley Jenner with 99 points, well done Ladies. Mens winner was again Peter Hall (13) on 38 points from Dave Gray (17) and Doug Meehan (7) who both had 37. The Ladies winner was Jan Harry (14) with a magnificent score of 44 pts so I am sure the handicappers will get into her handicap from a distant Meryl Cameron (14) on 36. The ball pool was Peter Hall, David Gray, Doug Meehan , John Murphy (22), Tony Laughlin (10), Meryl Cameron, Luke Hadfield (13), Joel Robertson (17) all on 36 pts and Laine Harry (5) got the last ball on c/b from Frank Cianci (25) who both had 35 pts. nearest the pins were Bruce Wright 3rd, Michelle Dillon 5th, Josh Free 9th, Ross Nesbit got the gold on the 13th and Doug Meehan went as close as you can get to a hole in one on the 16th. Bryan Livingston won the pen with his game and Jan Harry and son Laine had the best stroke scores of the day with both shooting 77 off the stick. We are trying to get Twight golf is back under way so on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 onwards 9 holes of golf $6 members and $8 for non members and non golfers are also welcome so come try it who knows you may enjoy it so much you may want to join the golf club.
