/Ladies Golf – Wednesday October 28th
A liaison with a territorial lizard gave Ange Laughlin the inspiration she needed to play a top round of 89, net 67 winning Ladies golf this week. Deaniee Henderson (net 70) was runner up with some massive drives and accurate putting. Jenny Waterson, Jean Youl and Shirley Jenner all made the ball pool with net 72.
Jean Youl was the putting pro today with 25 putts – including a 4 putt! Olive Spitty won the Chino’s voucher with a beautiful shot on the 9th.
It was the second round of Ladies Club Championships today and all grades had a change in leader. Total scores after the first 2 rounds are: A grade –Olive Spitty (4) 160, Michelle Dillon (8) 161, B grade – Jenny Waterson (19) and Ange Morton (22) both on 184, C grade – Chrissy Downs (30) 214, Lorraine Bray (29) 217. Next week will be the third and final round and presentations will be made after golf. Also it will be the Monthly Medal.
Thursday Golf
The R & R day produced one of the best rounds of golf for the year when Gary Thorne (5) belied his recent form to come in with 43 points having 68 of the stick. He started off well parring the first 5 holes, then birdieing the long par 5, 6th. 3 more pars and he was going into the back nine one under. Starting the back nine with a birdie then 3 more pars and two birdies in a row on 14 and 15 and he
was probably thinking course record on the way here but unfortunately he got into his own head and bogeyed 16 and 17 and a par on the last still had him finish with a very fine 68, well done Gary.
The rest of the ball pool group was Anthony Robertson (24) on 39, Doug Ellwood (23) 37, Ron Schultze (24) and Frank Ritchie (19) both on 36 and Kevin Sambrooks (18) won the last ball on a count back from 2 others all on 35 points. Nearest the pins were Don Ross on the 3rd and 13th, Michelle Dillon 5th , Graham Wyte the 9th and old John Murphy on the 16th.
Saturday Golf
Our day of golf although a little bit windy was a good day with over 50 golfers enjoying the day. Our visitor from Port Lincoln Jarred Wait (12) is still in good form with another win with a nett 67 to win by 4 from Chris Waterson (7) and Peter Hall (14) both with nett 71. Ladies winner for the day was Deaniee Henderson (21) 31 pts on a 4 way count back from Olive Spitty (4), Lorraine Bray (29) and
Chrissy Downs (30).
The ball pool was Chris Waterson (7) and Peter Hall (14) nett 71, Ryan Gill (23),
Phil Lloyd (11) and David Gray (19) all nett 72, Dave Conlan (22), Andrew Spitty (+1), Gary Pay (17) and Scott Harry (15) all on nett 73. The nearest the pins were Scott Harry on the 3rd, Andrew Spitty (5th), Paul Goodson almost holing out on the 9 th, Kevin Sambrooks got the money on the 13th and Jarred Wait won the 16th.
The day comprised the 2 nd round of club championships and Andrew Spitty
increased his lead to 17 shots from Logan Keighran with Chris Waterson 1 shot behind Logan, I think the only way he could lose is if he breaks a leg so if I was Andrew I would be careful crossing the road this week because I have heard of what Chris is capable of doing to win trophies.
In the B Grade it is close with Terry Turvey, Scott Harry and Greg Gin in a 3 way lead with Peter Hall only a shot behind and it’s the same in C Grade where we have Ryan Gill, Dave Conlan and John Murphy all on the same score. So some interesting golf this coming Saturday. It will be the last round of club Championships, so leading groups will be ranked. Good luck to all those in contention this weekend and spectators are most welcome to come along and watch.
