Thursday Golf

Thursday saw our rich and retired golfers hit the greens for a good day of golf. Mr Thursday

Geoff Williams again had another mid week win with a good score of 39pts. Geoff has been a very

consistent scorer on Thursdays and I bet he would like all days to be called Thursday. In the ballpool

all four golfers had the same score of 36 pts those being Wayne O’Neill, John Ficken from Murrabit

Graham Wyte and Poddy Free. Nearest the pins were Chris Gray on 3, John Ficken won on 5 and 13 ,

Jarrad Walker on 9 and nobody could find the green in one shot on 16. We also welcomed Glen

Watson, a visitor from Waikerie (SA) to the field.

Saturday Golf

Our first round of our club championships began on Saturday in winds that would have

rivalled what Darwin copped in 1974. Low scores were not to be had on this day and it shows as our

leader Andrew Spitty (0) had an 81 to have a 1 shot lead over Gary Thorne (6) on 82 as well as our B

Grade leader Peter Hall (14) on 82. In second place in B Grade is Gav Teasdale (14) with 83 so its very

close in both grades. In C Grade the old war horse in Casey Gillen (22) has a commanding 9 shot lead

over evergreen Doug Ellwood (22) on 103. The Ladies had a small but quality filled field and the

winner was Michelle Dillon (9) on a count back from Meryl Cameron (16) both on 32 pts. Nearest the

pins on the 3 rd was Gary Thorne he also had the 9 th , Gav Teasdale on the 5 th into a howling head wind,

the 13 th went to Michelle Dillon and Phil Lloyd got 16.

Ladies Golf – Wednesday October 30

How good was it to have a bubbly contingent of ladies from Lakeside with us for a stableford comp today… doubled our numbers and proved very fruitful for them!!! It was a magnificent day after the hurricane winds on Saturday and some, (unfortunately only some!) of the players took advantage of our beautiful course to post some handy scores.

Our winner for the day was Mandy Ackland with a great score of 38. Most importantly, she also won Lake Boga’s much sought after annual award - the prestigious peacock brooch. The other ladies looked on very enviously as Mandy flashed her new bling around. Lorraine Bray was runner up with 36 points. She was excited to score her first birdie EVER and Michelle taught her the required response of ‘Tweet, Tweet, Tweet’ and high fiving. In the ball pool was Meryl Cameron and Ruth McAlister, both on 35.

Nearest the pin on 9 to win the Chino’s coffee was Ruth and Michelle Dillan took home June’s ball on the 3rd. Deanne Free scored a shiny new pen.

The Les Jobling competition which was due to begin on Saturday has been postponed due to lack of numbers. Stay tuned for new dates for that.

Don’t forget to grab your tickets for ‘Groove on the Green,’ – always an awesome night!

Next week is a stroke round for our monthly medal - 9.30 for 10am hit off.
