Thursday Golf

Our Rich Retirees enjoyed a beautiful day of golf with21 golfers taking on our magnificent

looking golf course. In a day where no one had an outstanding day Denis Bacon (13) had the best

score of 38 pts to win the day from the old fellas. Closely behind him was Don Ross (11) on 37 pts

and rounding out the ball pool Terry Turvey (13) on 36 and Shane Dibsdale (12) 35. Nearest the Pins

were 5 th Poddy Free, 9 th Chris Waterson, 13 th Tony Laughlin and he also won it on the 16 th and no one, could find the green on the 3 rd. I can only think there must have been a north wind on this day. Thursday golf is open to all golf with a handicap and hit off is at 12:45 so come along and enjoy.

Saturday Golf

The second round of our championships started well because we didn’t have the cyclonicwinds of the first week but unfortunately 13 mm of rain during the morning almost cancelled out the day. We finally got under way at 1:30 and judging by his score the wet conditions didn’t hamper our leader, Andrew Spitty, to much. Starting off with 3 bogies in the first 6 holes but followed up with birdies on 7 and 8. He turned at one over the card and only 2 bogies on the back nine and came in with a very good score of 3 over 74, to increase his lead to 9 shots over Red Manners.

In B Grade, Peter Hall has a 3 shot lead on Terry Turvey, so this grade is in the balance.

C Grade leader is still Casey Gillen who managed to increase his lead to have a 28 shot advantage over Ron Schultze so as long as his body holds together, one would think he’s got this one in the bag. In our comp on Saturday, Col Wilkie (17) who had a great round of 80 for a nett 63 was the winner by 5 from Red Manners (9) and Jarrad Walker (13) both with a nett 68. The ball pool was Red Manners and Jarrad Walker 68, Logan Keighran 69, Terry Turvey 70 and Chris Waterson 71 with Poddy Free and Scott Harry missing out on a count back. Nearest the pins were 3 rd Red Manners, 5 th Poddy Free, 9 th Col Wilkie, 13 th Andrew Spitty and the 16 th went begging and Mark Henderson was lucky enough to win the pen for his round of golf. In the ladies section Deaniee Henderson (27) held off all challengers to win.

Ladies Golf – Wednesday November 6

It was the Monthly Medal competition this week and 10 ladies contested the day in blustery conditions. Barbara Barnes had no trouble with the gusts and flurries though, winning with a net 75. Jean Youl was back with us after exploring several outback golf courses. She enjoyed the change from dust & dirt to greens, coming runner up with net 76. In the ball pool was Mandy Ackland and Ruth McAlister, both with net 77. Joyce Boyd was nearest the pin on the 9th to claim the Chino’s coffee voucher and Rhonda Willoughby won on the 3rd for June’s ball. Rhonda also had the least putts with 30. Nola Robinson struggled with the wind up her skirt today, but she headed for home with a shiny new pen!

Don’t forget that this Sunday is the day to be Grooving on the Green! Golf next week is 9.30 for 10am hit off.

Legacy Day

After the rain the day before the course presented very well for our 4 person Ambrose sponsored by Legacy with proceeds going to them to support veterans widows. A small field of 45 golfers turned up to support a great organisation and to have some fun on the day. We had visitors from Lalbert, Barham, Cohuna, Wedderburn, Dunolly and Ballan so thanks to them for their support.

The winners were Michelle Dillon, Terry Turvey, Gary Pay and Shirley Jenner with a score of 65 – 7.9 = 57.1, from Nick Sims, Lisa Hyne, Rod Barrington and Barry Sims 65 – 7.8 = 57.2 and third place to Chris Manners, Jarrad Walker, Chris Waterson and Joel Woolhouse. Nearest the pins were 3rd Steve Wall who also got the 13th ,5th John Chandler and the 16th Geoff Williams and no one found the dance floor on the 9th .
