Ladies Golf Wednesday 28th April 2021

A small but quality field gathered on Wednesday, to tackle the great game of Par. Rosie Laughlin (35) has found her new favorite game, finishing at +4 & breaking her handicap by 2 shots. Rhonda Willoughby (24) also had a great round with +2, Michelle Dillon (8) was all square after 18 holes and picked up the Chino’s NTO 9th, thanks Raylene, for your support. The monthly medal Shirt is up for grabs this week. A couple of girls are a bit excited & have their names down for a couple of weeks! Chrissy and Megs, it will be great to have you back. Hit off is 9.30am. Cheers your Captain.

Thursday Golf

A great day of golf for the rich & retired and the happiest of all was Gary Thorne (4), who had 73 off the stick to win the day with 38 points and lose another point off his handicap, so now he is down to 3. Things didn’t go all his way by starting off with 3 bogies in the first 5 holes but a birdie on 6 and two more on the back nine, did the job for him to win the day. Runner up was the Sargeant himself, Ron Schultze (23) with 36 on a count back from Graham Wyte (12), others in the ball pool were Kevin Sambrooks (16) 35, Don Ross (9) on 34 on c/b from Doug Ellwood (20), Shirley Jenner (22) and Simon Shanks (17). Nearest the pins went to Tony Laughlin on the 3rd, Andrew Spitty 5th, Terry Turvey 9th, Graham Wyte 13th and Allan Free on the 16th. Spud McKerrow happily accepted the pen award and as mentioned before Gary Thorne had the best stroke score of 73.

Saturday Golf

We had two ripping rounds of golf today with John Murphy (23) and Poddy Free (19) having absolute days out and coming in with net 66’s and the winner on c/b was old Murph, so well done to him. Those in the ball pool were David Stubbs (28) 67 net, Rhonda Willoughby (24) 69, Don Ross (9) 70 and Doug Meehan (6) net 71 on c/b from Geoff Williams (18) and Graham Wyte (12). Ladies winner today was Geraldine Kennedy (37) with a 69 net on c/b from Rhonda Willoughby.

Nearest the pins were John Murphy on the 3rd, Geoff Williams 5th, Scott Harry 9th, Rhonda Willoughby got the money on 13 and Doug Meehan got it on the 16th.

Sunday Golf

We threw in a round of golf on Sunday, for those who can’t get there because of footy commitments, and Chris Waterson (4) had his best round for a long time to win the day with 37 points on c/b from Geoff Williams (17). High of the day was Andrew Spitty who had 2 eagles, one on the 2nd and the other on the 6th. One wonders does he get 2 Eagle’s nests?

We had Pennant at Lalbert on Sunday against Nyah West and unfortunately Kerang went down in all 3 matches so that has put an end to our finals chances for this year. The last round is at Balranald on the 16th so hopefully we can come away from there with a win.

Greenwood Mugge is next weekend so let’s have a big turn out for this.
