Annual Tournament Results

Wednesday 

A large field of golfers played on Wednesday, supporting the Lakeside Golf Club ladies who competed for the coveted Boga Brooch.

Mandy Ackland (25) managed to retain the Brooch with a very respectable 36 pts, which also got her first place in the ball pool. Lorraine Bray 30 (ex Lakeside golfer, who has won the brooch previously, on several occasions) won the day with a handicap smashing 42 pts, from our ever consistent Captain Michelle (9) on 38 pts. Ball Pool - Mandy Ackland 36, Nola Robinson 33 and Meryl Cameron (15) with 35pts.

9th Chino’s Coffee Voucher – Nola Robinson. 13th Jill Marshall… who also managed to take home the pen.

Deanne Free presented the messiest card, coffee on cards doesn’t end well.

Thursday 4BBB Stableford

The first day of our Annual Tournament sponsored by Choice Cut Butchers for the Men and The Beauty Dust for the Women we had a good roll up of players for our 4BBB day. Winners in the Men’s event were the lovable leprechauns Greg Gin and Joe Tartaglia with a very good score in the wind of 45 pts to win by 2 from Gary Pay and Keenan Messer on 43 pts, third place went to Rob Fabry and John Murphy on 42. 

Ladies winners were Michelle Dillon and Shirley Jenner on 40 pts who just managed to beat Jan Harry and Meryl Cameron on 39 pts. Nearest the pin winners were um well no one managed to get on the 3rd, Michelle Dillon 5th, Graham Wyte 9th, Jean Youl 13th and Don Ross on the 16th. Chris Veldman and John McNeil were the proud winners of the pen award.

Pat McKnight Trophy and Les Jobling Trophy

The main day of our tournament, The Pat McKnight Trophy, the winner of the Ladies best stroke score was Olive Spitty (4) with 79 and the winner of the Men’s with the best stroke of the day was her father, Andrew Spitty (+2), who had 71 off the stick to have a big win over Gary Thorne (5) on 81. A Grade H/cap Winner was Greg Gin (17) who had a fine day coming in with 66 net to beat one of our visitors Jarred Wait (13) 68 net. B Grade Scratch Winner was Rob Fabry (19) with 92 and Handicap winner was John Murphy (24) net 72, R/up was Chris Veldman (23) from Murrabit net 73.

The Ladies are playing for the Les Jobling Trophy and the leader after the first round is Deaniee Henderson (22) with 40 pts to win from Chrissy Downs (30) on 34 on a C/b from Jan Harry (15).

IGA 3P Ambrose Day

Thanks to Walkers IGA for sponsoring our Ambrose on Sunday the winners were the most popular team of the Laughlin’s in dad Tony, mum Rosie and daughter Angela Morton who turned in a fine score of 69 – 11.5 = 57.5 net and Tony being the gentleman he is, let the girls take the motorbike home, while he carried the trophies across the paddock. Second place went to the Lakeside team of Brad McManus, Barry and Daniel Thompson with 69 – 10.5 = 58.5 and third place to Bruce and Katelyn Wright and Beau Bennett who had a 69 – 10.3 = 58.7 in a very close finish. The nearest the pins were on the 3rd Greg Cruikshank from Lakeside, 5th John Murphy, 9th Gary Thorne, 13th Beau Bennett and the 16th was James Meehan jnr. The winner of the money for nearest the pin on the 13th for the entire tournament was Kevin Sambrooks who landed one 3.67 metres from the pin.

Club Championships

The Club Champs 1 st round was played on Saturday and the leader is Andrew Spitty (+2) who leads

with 71 in second place is Gary Thorne (5) on 81. In B Grade the leader is Greg Gin (17) with 83,

second is the President Terry Turvey (13) on 84 and Scott Harry (15) and Jim Clark (16) both on 86.

Our C Grade leader is John Murphy (24) on 96 from Doug Ellwood (23), Dave Conlan (22) and Ryan

Gill (22) all on 101.

Don’t forget the Visual Appeal 4P Ambrose on Friday with great prizes available and also next week is just normal golf and the second round of club champs is the following week 31st October.
