With the easing of restrictions of Covid we had our first official Saturday competition on the weekend so there were cheers all round. Because the weather didn’t look promising we only had 33 golfers turn up to play. We must thank all the players from Murray Downs GC in Swan Hill for their patronage of our course over the past few weeks it has been a pleasure having them and seeing so many people on our course. We had a few start early and the rest start at the normal times because Chris Waterson told them all it was going to start raining at 1:00. Angela Morton (22) was the est of the Ladies with 36 pts to win by one over Chrissy Downs (31). In the Men Ross Nesbitt (13) won the day with 37 pts. In the ball pool was Andrew Spitty (+2), Chrissy Downs (31) and Bryan Livingston (17) on 35, Logan Keighran (2) and Blake Shay (11) on 33 pts and Greg Gin (17) got the last ball on countback from 4 other golfers. Nearest the pins were on the 3rd Jack Hewitt, 5th Joe Tartaglia, 9th Shane Dibsdale, Paul Goodson got the superpin on the 13th and no one could handle the wind on the 16th. The best stroke score came from Andrew Spitty with 69 off the stick and Terry Turvey was as pleased as punch winning he’s first pen, well done to the President. A high light of the past few weeks was young Olive Spitty, who set a members course record of 73 a while back go two better and par the course while playing with her father Sunday week ago, I’m sure it wont be long before she does it on a comp day and be recognised properly. Just a warning to all golfers that a snake was spotted on Saturday at the bridge beside the 5th green so please be aware that the onset of warmer weather will bring them out but if you do see one call Jean Youl as she is experienced at getting rid of them just ask Deaniee.
