Golf Results 4th October

Ladies Report Wednesday 30/09/2020

Our numbers were boosted with a couple joining us from Lakeside, it was Deanne Free (36) that handled the course the best, beating Nola Robinson (35) on a count back with 34 points. Olive Spitty (4) 33 pts, Jan Harry (15) 32 pts and Jenny Waterson (21) 31 pts, were the only ladies to make it over 30 pts.

The course is in great condition, so not sure why everyone else found it tuff! Jo Martin came to visit for the holidays and now has a new pen to take home to Benalla.

NTP 9th Chino’s went to Jenny Waterson with a great shot, did it turn into a birdie? Michelle Dillon was on the 13th. This week is the Medalist of the Year, Alma Brown Memorial Shield, those playing for it are Meryl Cameron, Barb Barnes, Michelle Dillon, Jenny Waterson, Joyce Boyd, Rhonda Willoughby, Carol Dear and Chrissy Downs. Good Luck girls.

Don’t forget the Championships on 21/28 October and 4th November.

Thursday Golf

26 golfers turned out for one of the nicest days of golf in a long time and the winner of the day with a fine 39pts was the man dominating the back page of the paper last week in Doug Ellwood (23).

Zooming around the course on his red Harley motorbike, Doug had one of his best rounds for a while to beat the President by 2 points, no doubt there will be repercussions for Doug later on. In the ball pool was Terry Turvey (13) 37, Wayne Cook (22) and Tony Laughlin (11) both on 36 and Andrew Spitty (+2) got the last ball on a countback from Rob Fabry (20) both on 35. Nearest the pins were on the 3rd Ross Nesbit, 5th Gary Thorne, 9th Michelle Dillon, 13th Ross Nesbit and the 16th went to Terry Turvey.

Saturday Golf

A good field of over fifty golfers braved the blustery wind conditions on Saturday to contest the Greenwood Mugge, we were supposed to play monthly medal (which we will play next week) but due to a clerical error played for the Mugge instead. Showing off his now trim looking physique after months of training Ned Pay (16) crushed the field to win by 3 points so is now the proud holder of the Mugge for the rest of the month. Ned finished the day on 40 pts and runner up was Kevin Sambrooks (19) on 37. The ball pool was Kevin Sambo, Gav Teasdale (13) 36, Ash McKnight (12) and Geraldine Kennedy (37) both on 34, Rhonda Willoughby (24), Graham Wyte 11, Jean Youl (23) and Ross Nesbit (13) all on 33 pts, Dave Conlan (22), Tony Laughlin (10), David Gray (19) and Rosie Laughlin (35) on 32 pts each. Nearest the pins were Chrissy Downs on the 3rd, Doug Meehan from Lalbert on the 5th, David Gray on the 9th, Max Wilson won the money on superpin 13th and Gav Teasdale won the 16th using a 3 wood into Saturday’s brutal head wind. Andrew Spitty had the best stroke score with a 76 and Josh Free (33) won the pen on a count back from Mabel Spitty and speaking of the Spitty’s, Andrew has another daughter Sadie who has put in her second card so good luck with your golf Sadie. In the Ladies Jen Waterson (21), with a lot of lessons recently from a former club Champion saw the fruits of her labour come to fruition with a superb 86 off the stick and 42 pts to win the Goblet and what a way to break 90 for the first time, well done to Jenny and runner up was Nola Robinson (34) with 39 pts.
