/Thursday Golf Our first Thursday golf of the year and we had a good turn out of 26 golfers turn up to play and we welcomed an old friend in Hamish Graham from Foster to the field. To start off David Wood(10) won the all important pen with he’s round of golf. Nearest the pins today were on the 3rd Red Manners, 5th Old John Murphy, 9th Bruce Wright, 13th was Phil Lloyd and the 16th Doug Meehan. The winner of the day was Doug Ellwood(23) who had the unbelievable score of 42 pts and that was after having 26 on the front nine so he either started or stopped drinking after nine holes and his standard dropped off but he still had a big enough lead to stay in front at the close of play. In the ball pool was Logan Keighran( now down to single figures of 9) on 40, Don Ross(10) 39, Phil Lloyd(10) 38, evergreen Tony Laughlin(12) 38 and the last ball went to Red Manners(9) 38 pts. Saturday Golf On another windy day for golf a good field of golfers braved the conditions for an enjoyable day of belting the hell out of an innocuous object to play for the monthly Medal. Old Murph (21) won the pen on a coutback from Joel Robertson (20) so congratulations to Murph. Nearest the pin winners were on the 3rd Gary Pay, no one managed to land on the 5th in the wind today , 9th went to Scott Harry who was unlucky not to hole out in one, superpin 13th to Shane Dibsdale who managed to miss the birdie putt and Gary Pay again on the 16th. The winner of the day on a count back from Peter Hall was Gary Pay with a great round of 85 – 17 = 68. Ned Started off well with a par, bogie , birdie but with some ordinary golf in the middle he managed to finish off with 5 pars in the last 6 holes for a good day out. Ladies Golf – Wednesday January 8th Happy New Year golfers! Six ladies embraced the cooler conditions for a stableford round this week. Shirley Jenner was the surprise victor, having struggled to play to her handicap for many weeks, perhaps months! Some fluky chips and some lucky putts assisted Jenner to score 37pts and prevented her from being sacked from ‘The Captains’ team in the Premier League comp. Lorraine Bray’s shiny new clubs are working a treat for her. She was runner up with 36 points. The ball pool went to Michelle Dillon with 33 (also sporting a lovely new set of Calloway’s). She also received the Chino’s NTP on the 9th. Nola Robinson was the recipient of ‘June’s ball’ NTP on the 3rd. Next week golf will be at the same time – 8.30 for 9. Don’t let the hot weather put you off – come and jump in a cart and enjoy our beautiful course!
